Social Anxiety & Neurofeedback
Did anyone see how anxious I was?
“I just couldn’t get over this feeling that I am being judged or watched by everyone around me. I desperately wanted to be outgoing and social – with a voice, but I was to scared and would just sit quietly and try to keep the attention off myself”
“I would spend the whole time worried about the anxiety. I would evaluate every outing as how I did and how I handled myself – Did anyone see how anxious I was?”
“I couldn’t take a compliment, I couldn’t give anyone eye contact, and I couldn’t sit in a room with all eyes on me… I felt like I was a prisoner inside myself…The thing about it was that I really felt I liked myself, I just didn’t think other people could be trusted with me”
“I wanted to be funny, outgoing, friendly, but I would end up just shrinking…”
What is social anxiety?
Social anxiety disorder, also known as social phobia, involves an intense and persistent fear of social situations—especially situations that are unfamiliar or in which you feel you’ll be watched or judged by others.
These social situations may be so frightening that you feel anxious just thinking about them and go to great lengths to avoid them.
Some people with social anxiety become overwhelmingly anxious and self-conscious in everyday social situations. They have a strong, overbearing fear of being watched and judged by others, and of doing something that would embarrass them or call attention to them. They can also worry for days or weeks before a social situation or activity.
This fear may become so controlling that it starts to interfere with work, school, and other ordinary activities and starts to impair the person’s ability to function, and eventually avoid public interactions.
Many people with social anxiety realize that their fears about being with people are unreasonable or excessive, and they can find it difficult to reason with the feelings and unable to overcome it without help.
Is there help? YES!
You can learn to retrain your thoughts and regain control of your life in social situations!
We have had great success in helping people regain the power back into their lives from Social anxiety.
Using Cognitive Behavior Therapy – identifying and reframing our (mostly negative) thoughts, in combination with Neuroptimal Neurofeedback (EEG brain training), people have learned to overcome their fears and boldly engage in their lives in ways they have always wanted to.

Frequently Asked Questions About Social Anxiety:
Can social phobia just go away by itself?
I am sure that there are some people that have found their way out of the grip of social anxiety on their own – I would call these people the lucky ones. Generally though, social anxiety is a condition that will typically get increasingly more chronic as life goes on, requiring intervention in most people.
Does social phobia run in families?
In our experience, when we talk to people who are struggling with this type of anxiety, they often come from a family where another member also is experiencing some kind of anxiety as well.
This could be a biological pass down or a learned behavior, there is no hard lined research that says definitively; it does however seem to be a pattern we see.
Can’t I just avoid the situations that make me anxious?
You can, but likely those avoidance behaviours are making you feel more secure at the moment but increasingly weakening your strength overall. Avoidance behaviours can keep us in a spiraling down cycle that slowly makes us avoid more and more situations and places.
It is not uncommon for social anxiety to turn into agoraphobia (a condition where a person begins to avoid spaces or situations associated with anxiety. This might include malls, crowded places, traveling etc…)
